9 Inspiring Outdoor Look for Less Projects

I don't want to admit it, but Summer in MN doesn't have too much longer so Justin & I really need to get on that "build our own patio furniture" project that we've been planning on doing for the last 3 months. I'm all for building furntiture ourselves <i>(obviously)</i> and saving us a few hundred dollars, but finding the time is hard!!<br /><div><br /></div><div>Along with some patio furniture, my entire patio could use a makeover. 10 Dog Beds that match with your Home Decor

We just made a rediculously small update in our house that made a pretty big impact, that we just had to share with you. Seriously you guys, all we did was go shopping <i>(which is one of our favorite pastimes...). </i><br /><br />While out browsing Home Goods for a couple of outdoor planters last weekend, Justin stumbled across a dog bed that matches perfectly with <a href="http://homecomingmn.blogspot.com/2013/08/shop-room-living-room.html" target="_blank">our living room</a>. Now, Justin is the type of dog daddy that wants to buy <u>anything</u> and <u>everything</u> for his pups. To the point that I'm usually the type of dog mom has to tell him to put down the handful of dog toys he's picked up, because our dogs will rip them to all to shreds in 2 minutes flat. But this time, I had to agree with his enthusiasm, and we brought home our fifth dog bed. <i>(Mind you, we only have two dogs...).</i><br /><i><br /></i>We made the quick switch from the dirty old dog bed in the corner of our living room, to the pretty new yellow one. Laundry Room Mood Boards

The other day, I let you know that my next room to tackle is our laundry/powder room on the main floor of our house. It hasn't been touched since we bought the house 7 years ago, and is in a major need of an upgrade. I think it would be a really nice way to tie the house together and make it feel cohesive.<br /><br />My plan would be to stencil 1-2 of the walls using the pattern from the top in mint and white, left corner of the mood board <i>(Yes! I'm going to try stenciling again! I like this option because I love how really white rooms look with natural colors of wood. We'd use the same stencil in this option, with the super light grey and white.<br /><br />A couple of caveats to this mood board is that a lot of the woodwork Justin would build us instead of buying, so we'd be able to stain them all the same color. So the shelves and mirror be the same color wood, and the mirror would be larger (of course) to go above the sink.<br /><br />This laundry room makeover is going to be done in stages with the cosmetic things like the paint, stenciling, baskets and maybe the shelf coming in Round 1, then mirror, light fixtures and new vanity/sink over time. But while this makeover will likely take some time, I want to make sure I have a solid plan before getting to far in.<br /><br />So what do you think? Small Laundry Room Inspiration

Happy Monday friends! I hope you all had an awesome fourth of July weekend like Justin & I did. So.Much.Fun.<br /><div><br /></div><div>But now it's time to dive back into the real world, which involves trying to wake up for work this morning (which was a struggle) and back to all of you! </div><div><br /></div><div>One of the projects that's top of mind for me lately is our Laundry/Bathroom on the main floor. DIY Striped Office Organization

I've got two more simple DIY projects from my <a href="http://homecomingmn.blogspot.com/2014/04/home-office-makeover-giveaway.html#.U2FhN-g9bug" target="_blank">Home Office Makeover</a> to share with you. <br /><br />First up, are these awesome DIY Striped Magazine Holders which I made from some super old (and ugly) black magazine holders I had laying around the house. <br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/22623969@N03/14045071796/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DIY Striped Magazine Holders by Home Coming, on Flickr"><img alt="DIY Striped Magazine Holders" height="906" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5122/14045071796_71c642e009_c.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />The DIY of these was about as simple as it got. Take your old magazine files, tape off even stripes on the spine of the holder with blue painters tape, then paint away! I feel like the balance between the stripes and the white is perfect for this space.
