Guest Post: DIY String Art

String art is a pretty popular trend right now. It is a beautful Deer Head String Art. I knew I wanted to do something similar but with a word. Recently I was able to get around to making it and I'd thought I'd share it with you all! Here is what I did:<br /><br /><br /><b><u><br /></u></b><br /><b><u><br /></u></b><br /><br /><br /><b><u>What you need:</u></b><br /><ul><li>Wooden Board</li><li>Wood Stain</li><li>Paint Brush</li><li>Hammer</li><li>Nails</li><li>String</li><li>Outline of Design</li></ul>One convenient thing about this project was I was able to find all the supplies at Hobby Lobby. I just love that store!<br /><br />The piece of wood I found was beveled on the edges. While I like the beveled edge look, it wasn't the look I was going for with this project. I used the word "create" in <a href="http://www.dafont.com/marketing-script.font" target="_blank">marketing script font</a> and printed out the outline of the word. I taped the "create" outline onto the wood, then hammered 1/2 nails into my wood along the outline of the word.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jkuzr-2vzSk/Ung6v20oL0I/AAAAAAAAAnc/eUbcsQO5x7k/s640/5+diy+string-art.jpg" width="640" /></div><br /><br />Next I wrapped my string around the nails. Next, I went back over the word with the string to fill it in. Plywood for kids

Je trouve que le mobilier d'enfants doit ressembler à ca: un design épuré, fonctionnel et flexible dans des matériaux naturels et résistants, laissant libre cours à la créativité des enfants. Cette collection de meubles appelée <a href="http://saunapihalle.fi/luona-in/" target="_blank">Luona In</a> en contreplaqué de pin a été créée par Takkunen, un architecte finlandais. Un webshop va à priori ouvrir bientôt, mais si vous êtes un peu bricoleur, je pense que ces images peuvent aussi servir d'inspiration pour réaliser quelque chose de similaire vous-même.<br /><br />PS. Painted Coasters: A project fail

The navy paint that I used was a free sample of Valspar paint that I had gotten at Lowe's. If you receive an HGTV or DIY magazine, you've probably seen the "free sample" coupons that are in the magazine.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/22623969@N03/10708705654/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="free-paint-sample-at-Lowes by Home Coming, on Flickr"><img alt="free-paint-sample-at-Lowes" height="426" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3671/10708705654_1cea265279_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />I'm more of a Behr paint girl and will <b><i>definitely</i></b> stay that way after this project. The Valspar paint was really thin and watery.  The watery-thin paint + the ridges of the flooring samples meant that the navy paint spread <i>everywhere</i>. It seeped under the blue painters tape, over the blue painters tape (and all over my counter). It was a mess.<br /><br />It was such a mess that I didn't even think to take a photo. So you'll have to take my word for it. I salvaged one of the coasters that was ruined by the navy paint, but it's definately not as pretty as I would have hoped. I even had to throw one of the three away, because there was no salvaging it.
