I was never really totally happy with how the artwork looked on the wall, and it felt a bit too "adult" and, felt like there was too much space between frames so  I decided to do some changes. I wanted it to feel a little more youthful, and have a better reflection of us as a family, so I'm happy right now with how it is. The console has a vintage box that I found at the cottage, and in it, there are coasters that I pull out when people have drinks. Beside it, some of the shells and coral Oscar and I collected in the Dominican this past winter. Two baskets on either side are useful - and pretty. One has Oscar's wooden building blocks and the other, my home decor magazines.<br /><br />The <b>artwork </b>on the walls are all framed (with the exception of two) in Ikea frames that I've switched matting out for - or, just framed a print <i>without </i>matting. It's a mixture of my own artwork, Oscar's and some purchased art. I love the gallery wall and what I chose to do was figure out the placement of the frames first, then, I filled them as I found artwork I liked. This method for me, worked the best as I didn't really know what look I wanted. Plus, typically it stays to the side as Oscar plays with his toys in this room. It's still in the original fabric I bought it in, which was a yellow hue to it, so it doesn't really fit the whole room anymore, and is craving to be recovered in a different fabric. I have some quotes in on fixing that up but it's hard to justify that expense just yet while we have so many other things that need doing. So I have a feeling it may be put off for a bit.<br /><br />Anyhow, I've been meaning to show this for awhile! I'm feeling a little burnt out this week so I'm hoping that tomorrow I can just have some quiet while Oscar is in preschool.  Anyhow, here are a few little things that I wanted to share but they didn't make it into posts. xo<br /><ul><li>I'm obsessed with the work of <a href="http://prf.hn/click/camref:11l3pT/destination:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.etsy.com%2Fshop%2FOscarEcho%3Fref%3Dl2-shop-info-name" target="_blank">Kelly McDonald</a> (And it's really reasonably priced)</li><li><a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/164170348891106080/" target="_blank">Love this green door</a></li><li>Hello <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/164170348891100989/" target="_blank">pretty garden. </a> And <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/164170348891100984/" target="_blank">this one too. </a> </li><li>We need to redo our back deck, but it will be such an expense we will have to hold off until next year. <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/littlehouseblog/decks-%2B-patios/" target="_blank">But I've been pinning ideas for the design.</a></li><li><a href="http://joannagoddard.blogspot.ca/2014/04/two-ingredient-pancakes.html" target="_blank">Two Ingredient pancakes</a></li><li>Car shopping - We went and saw <a href="http://www.jeep.ca/en/compass/overview" target="_blank">Jeep Compass </a>last week, and also an <a href="http://www.gm.ca/gm/english/vehicles/chevrolet/equinox/overview" target="_blank">Chevy Equinox. </a> I liked the features that the Equinox had, like backup cameras, and distance sensors. Truthfully, my favourite car in terms of design is the<a href="http://www.mercedes-benz.ca/content/canada/mpc/mpc_canada_website/en/home_mpc/passengercars/home/new_cars/models/glk-class/x204.flash.html#_int_passengercars:home:model-navi:x204" target="_blank"> Mercedes GLK</a> but it's not a contender because of the cost. My Mom just bought a <a href="http://www.subaru.ca/WebPage.aspx?WebSiteID=282&WebPageID=17787&Range=Forester&ModelYear=2014" target="_blank">Subaru Forester </a>and loves it, so it's also a contender. I hate car shopping. Really. It's like such a big purchase and I'm dreading making a mistake! DIY Striped Office Organization

I've got two more simple DIY projects from my <a href="http://homecomingmn.blogspot.com/2014/04/home-office-makeover-giveaway.html#.U2FhN-g9bug" target="_blank">Home Office Makeover</a> to share with you. <br /><br />First up, are these awesome DIY Striped Magazine Holders which I made from some super old (and ugly) black magazine holders I had laying around the house. <br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/22623969@N03/14045071796/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DIY Striped Magazine Holders by Home Coming, on Flickr"><img alt="DIY Striped Magazine Holders" height="906" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5122/14045071796_71c642e009_c.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />The DIY of these was about as simple as it got. Take your old magazine files, tape off even stripes on the spine of the holder with blue painters tape, then paint away! Since I was using spray paint, I decided to tape up the other three sides of the holder so they didn't get any overspray, and it worked great. <br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/22623969@N03/14068181615/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Striped Magazine Holder how to by Home Coming, on Flickr"><img alt="Striped Magazine Holder how to" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7179/14068181615_53d1d08d06_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />Then I took my three striped magazine holders and mixed them in with my three <a href="http://www.staples.com/Bigso-Viktoria-Magazine-Collector-White/product_153946" target="_blank">new white magazine holders</a> from Staples. I feel like the balance between the stripes and the white is perfect for this space.
