Si vous êtes à Paris, il y a une jolie <a href="https://paris.si.se/agenda/slow-art/" target="_blank">expo "Slow Art"</a> en cours à <a href="https://paris.si.se/" target="_blank">l'Institut Suédois</a> en ce moment (jusqu'au 13 juillet). A travers quelques superbes pièces uniques provenant des collections de Nationalmusem à Stockholm, on célèbre un processus créatif lent et méticuleux où priment la technique et les matériaux. I have a bump on my shoulder that has been bothering me for some time, and it started to really bother me last week. My doctors office called me and told me to come in right away which set me off (and I googled medical terms, which also didn't help one bit) So I called Aubrey and burst into tears explaining it all. I cry when there is tension. Tears start to flow down my face and I can't stop it. This time, Oscar was beside me when I unralleved, which made me feel AWFUL. Have you ever cried in front of your kids? I always recall stories of my Grandmother being<i> very emotional</i> and it wasn't portrayed as very healthy. So even though I know crying is normal, and, healthy  - I do feel terrible whenever I cry in front of Oscar. I think it's important as a parent to be a rock for your kids. So I think it always worries me when I get weepy. <i>Anyhow</i>, I went to the doctors, they aren't concerned but say it's a cyst and it needs to be removed. I'm going in for surgery perhaps in the next week to remove it which sounds quite dramatic but apparently it's not. Is it weird I'm blogging about this? It feels weird to talk about feeling weak and being a mess. <i>Anyways</i> - if you can take anything from this babbling, it's a lesson to not google medical terms unless you want to freak yourself out. ;)<br /><br />Anyhow, onto other stuff - Oscar and I have been having a blast - painting outside, harvesting some lavender from the garden, picking berries from the Service Berry trees outback to place into ice cubes to make fancy cubes. I bought a stash of vintage teacups that I adore - although my Mom did take 50% of them when she was over. ;-) (Hi Mom!)<br /><br />Have a great weekend!  xo Lindsay

My BIRD

Voici quelques photos que j'ai prises chez moi le weekend dernier pour une émission télé qui sera diffusée à la rentrée (oui, promis je vous préviendrai!). Happy Fourth!

Farrow + Ball - Find It, Paint it, Love it

First of all - upon seeing Farrow & Ball in my inbox I did do a little "gasp" as it is really, the top paint manufacturers. My Mom's home is all in Farrow and Ball, and she has always swooned over the names that the paint colours have. Mole's Breath, Apple Green, <span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, 'ヒラギノ角ゴ Pro W3', 'Hiragino Kaku Gothic Pro', メイリオ, Meiryo, 'ＭＳ Ｐゴシック', arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 17px;">Drawing Room Blue</span>. Perhaps it was also the British Connection (my Grandfather was born in England, my Dad studied at Oxford, and he and Mom lived there together for awhile) that made our family love this line - but if ever there was a paint line that I identified with - it was them. I've never used the line myself - so getting their e-mail, I really was excited. Farrow and Ball invited me to find a piece of vintage furniture, and pick any Farrow and Ball paint colours to make something over. You know me and painting furniture. I normally don't go all crazy with two tone furniture, but I was inspired by some of the pieces that Farrow and Ball had done in the past and I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone a little. A simple piece all of the sudden becomes pretty amazing.<br /><br />Not original to the table are the two handles I installed on either side of the table. Although they are new, I picked them as they looked as though they could be original to the piece. They just add that extra visual interest that I think can bring a simple piece to be a stunner. A pop of colour via a really inexpensive piece of furniture can add a lot of interest without a lot of investment.<br /><br />Although many will likely take away from this post the inspiration (hopefully!) to paint your own furniture maybe in fun colour combo like I did - I want to really point out that painting with <a href="http://us.farrow-ball.com/" target="_blank">Farrow and Ball</a> for this piece was truly luxurious. The finish was stunning, doesn't feel like it's going to chip - and a little paint went a VERY long way. I love, love them. I really felt that we needed some lighting that shone down (vs. outwards) in order to not flood the deck with lighting. The two lights adds enough ambient lighting that you can sit out there and now see people, or even have the lights on when you're indoors and you don't feel like you're sending a bat signal to outer space.<br /><br />To finish off the space I added some planters from PC Home & Garden, and planted some perennial grasses that will stay there in the winter, and then I'll cut them down in the Spring and watch them come back to life. The lighting and planters makes looking outside much more pleasant - previously it just looked like a porch, to get to the garden. Now it feels like an outdoor room.<br /><br /><b>Lighting</b>: Purchased at <a href="http://www.sescolite.com/" target="_blank">Sescolite </a><br /><i>Tip: Carolyn has always helped my Mom and I, and is amazing.
