Most recently<a href="http://bit.ly/1aWD87Y" target="_blank"> I happened across this painting by François Fournier</a>, a Canadian painter who sells on Etsy - I had it in my favourites for awhile and decided to snatch it up - it was really quite affordable. I loved the sheep in the field - it reminded me of my Mom, and a trip that we had taken as a family to <a href="http://www.blenheimpalace.com/" target="_blank">Blenheim Palace</a>, a stop in a tour around London, England and Oxford. <br /><br />When it arrived, the painting was even more lovely in person - but I was stumped as to how to display it, as it was simply on a board. Framing is quite expensive, and not in my budget so I decided to just see, for fun - how it would look in an Ikea frame behind coloured matting - and<i> I love it.</i> It takes what could be a formal painting and adds a little fun.<br /><br />It's nice because I can easily switch the matting should my tastes change. No big investment and therefore no big deal if I want to change it out. It actually was a pretty lovely week. That being said, I'm feeling a teensy bit anxious because I have a lot on the go <i>and </i>I'm finding it hard to get into the groove after the holidays. It's in part due to the fact that Aubrey has switched his work week around for a few weesks so my typical schedule is off. As a self employed stay-at-home mom ... it's the recipe for disaster. I'll be happy when he's back to his regular schedule, so I can feel like I know when I'll be able to work. Anyhow, enough of me blabbering on about that. My <a href="http://aubreyandlindsay.blogspot.ca/2013/12/winter-activity-growing-paperwhites.html" target="_blank">paperwhites</a> came to their demise this past week - They had an awesome run - they blossomed and did beautifully throughout the holiday season. I'm for going to do the same next year - although the aroma of the flowers at first bothered Aubrey (they are somewhat potent) the scent dissipated after a few days and we were left with pretty white flowers and no scent. With the paperwhites gone I craved more greenery rather quickly so Oscar and I went and bought a few containers of hyacinths and other bulbs & I planted them into my blue & white pottery and placed them throughout the house. (Ps., I found that little blue and white china box at Value Village and it now sits on my vanity. I adore it.)<br /><br /><b>Some other things:</b><br /><ul><li><a href="http://www.fivestripes.com/striped-candles-unique-luxury-decoration-candles-s/207.htm" target="_blank">Ana Candles </a>- Striped candles, oh be still my heart. They are GORGEOUS. And I'm using them for our Valentine's Day table, more photos of them coming up. </li><li><a href="http://www.pennypaperco.com/collections/valentines-day-stamps/products/red-pink-striped-ribbon">New Stripe Ribbon in the shop.</a> </li><li>Aubrey got me that <a href="http://aubreyandlindsay.blogspot.ca/2013/12/my-love-list.html" target="_blank">little radio I liked from Restoration Hardware.</a> It's so sweet. The sound isn't awesome, but it's nice to have on occasionally. </li><li>I'm obsessing over pillows. A lot. <a href="https://www.etsy.com/pages/littlehouseblog/pillows?eref=littlehouseblog&ecpid=120">I purchased on of these in this collection on Etsy</a>- any guess which?</li><li><a href="http://prf.hn/click/camref:11l3pT/destination:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.etsy.com%2Fshop%2FThePennyPaperCo">My Big Prints are at a pretty steep discount over on my Etsy Page</a>. What's your style?

Just a quick post today with a fun style quiz I found yesterday.<br /><br />There have been a lot of personality quizzes on the internets lately from "What state/city should you live in?" (LA/California) to "What era should you live in?" She's at home in a place where industrial meets comfort, where over-the-top meets laid-back chill, and where retro art meets graphic simplicity. And she does all this in a way that feels totally effortless.</i><br /><br />While this is probably completely true of me, I'm not sure that I incorporate those things into my home. I actually think I choose decor that's much more "Modern Metro" by their descriptions.
