I thought I would drop him off on the first day, I'd pick him up for lunches, I'd bring him back to school for the afternoon and between it all I'd be back to my old self of having time to run the shop, clean the house, do grocery shopping, get my leisurely coffee at Starbucks, and then write a thoughtful, meaningful post about design and decor, be inspired to do artwork, oh yeah, and get in some time at the gym and sit in the steam room and meditate. Yeah. A big ol' record scratch to my soundtrack of life and everything went pretty much <i>opposite </i>as to how I had anticipated it would go.<br /><br /><a name="more"></a><br /><br />Oscar was having a hard time with being dropped off, was trying to escape the "play yard" at every drop off, which made me anxious every day and, heartbroken. I cried one afternoon after a drop off. I hate seeing him upset. The class size is pretty big, so mixed in with my own trepidation about it all, I was a nervous wreck. To minimize the stress on him (and, um, maybe me?) we ended up sending him for full days - he now has lunch there.<br /><br />It has made the transition surprisingly better  Obviously each kid is different - although some kids would likely benefit from coming home at lunch, my kid just needs the consistency of staying from drop off, to the end of the day. Coming home to Mom made things worse. This week has gotten better, there hasn't been any crying, and I've felt some sense of relief and, comfort in how it's all shaping up. All of this to say, that life sometimes just throws you curve balls and you have to be ready to take them. And weather the bruises. I do have to say that having a great group of Mom's for me in the neighbourhood who had been through it all, were ridiculously supportive and kept reassuring me that it would pass. Although I was bracing myself for a year of heartbreaking drop offs - they were right and, it got better.<br /><br />Anyhow, here are some shots from this week. xo<br /><br /><b>Top Left: </b>Target is rolling out new items and I'm loving their pattern play on home decor pieces. <a href="http://instagram.com/p/tTxQqoQshP/?modal=true" target="_blank">Instant commentary on stock levels here in Canada</a>, followed in the comments. I always feel like I'm going to go in for something and then they are going to tell me something bad is going to happen. Like my teeth are all going to fall out. Annnnnnd so - I haven't felt like journaling anything on this here blog. Apparently Aubrey knew I was stressed, it was pretty obvious. I think I was acting totally normal. Whatever. Maybe the six candy bar wrappers from last night were a giveaway. #StressEating<br /><br />That being said alhough I haven't felt like writing much this week, I have felt the need to DECORATE! Our living room is stashed full of items for #ProjectPinkRoom and as you can see,...... there is a LOT of pink! Fingers crossed it comes together because seriously, this has been a whole whack load of fun, and buying things because we think they are awesome. A room revamp for the start of school for this little girl - well - makes me SO flippin' excited.<br /><br />Ok. That's enough for tonight. Off to watch some trash TV and zone out. xo<br /><br /><br />

Minna's project and the Safari daybed

Some time ago, Minna from <a href="http://www.timeoftheaquarius.com/" target="_blank">Time of the Aquarius</a> ordered a <a href="http://www.lamaisondannag.com/fr/mobilier/412-divan-safari.html" target="_blank">Safari daybed from my shop</a> to be used in an interior project she was working on. The result is this bright and welcoming apartment filled with beautiful furniture in light wood, soft hues of grey and terracotta and a few black accents. I'm happy to see how well our daybed (2nd photo) fits in too! Black/white/wood/grey and a green plant

I ran into this beautiful home on <a href="http://www.hemnet.se/inspiration" target="_blank">Hemnet </a>tonight and I'm pretty sure it belongs to Swedish ceramist Kajsa Cramer (whose stunning ceramics you can also find <a href="http://www.lamaisondannag.com/fr/28_kajsa-cramer" target="_blank">in my shop</a>). I really like the graphic black & white look, softened by different kinds of wood, shades of grey and refreshing green plants. Just some quick posts to end the week. :)<br /><ul><li>Aubrey and I celebrated TEN years of being married yesterday! <a href="http://instagram.com/p/tIOeR-wsuW/?modal=true" target="_blank">You can read what we did here. ;)</a> </li><li>A <a href="https://vimeo.com/106347495" target="_blank">beautiful wedding video.</a> We didn't shoot video at our wedding but I kind of wish we had!</li><li><a href="http://www.pennypaperco.com/collections/desk-accessories" target="_blank">New desk accessories in the shop</a> including pencils that have some of my favourite sayings on them.</li><li>I've been using essential oils more, especially when it comes to Oscar and when he has a bug.<a href="http://joannagoddard.blogspot.ca/2014/09/how-to-use-essential-oils.html" target="_blank"> I've bookmarked this, which I keep going back to.</a>  He came home from school with a cold last week, and I kept him home for a morning to rest up (I think quiet and rest is a huge help) but I also gravitated towards the <a href="http://mightynest.com/blog/the-essential-6-uses-for-peppermint-essential-oil" target="_blank">Peppermint oil</a> - I put it on him every night and he had no trouble breathing during sleep. Do you use essential oils? Off to the library I go. </li><li><a href="http://6thstreetdesignschool.blogspot.ca/2014/08/last-weeks-links.html" target="_blank">These chandeliers</a>. Oh my. </li><li><a href="http://www.vistek.ca/store/prophotolightingreflectors/263301/westcott-40-5in-1-reflector.aspx" target="_blank">I bought a light reflector to use for product photography and I LOVE it.</a> </li><li><a href="http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news/caught-camera-ghost-floating-across-4263242" target="_blank">OMG. Do you believe in Ghosts?? </a></li><li>I watch The Real Housewives series. Maison&Objet - Words by Elizabeth Leriche

The trend theme for this latest Maison&Objet was "Sharing", a dynamic of creative sharing in the digital age. Among the three exhibitions dedicated to this theme I prefered "Words" by Elizabeth Leriche: a beautiful and poetic setting where words and letters are resisting the supremacy of digital communication.<br /><br /><i>Le thème tendance pour ce dernier Maison&Objet était "Sharing", une dynamique de partage créatif à l'ère numérique.
